Eve of the 2010 Winter Olympics

Tomorrow 12 February, 2010, marks the start of the 21st Winter Olympiad. These Olympics are taking place in the Canadian city of Vancouver. Some of the events will be held in the winter skiing village of Whistler, about an hour and a half north of Vancouver. I was recently in the area last year and saw the efforts that the Canadian people have made to make sure this Olympiad is extraordinary. The city of Vancouver has placed works of art by Canadian artists in strategic locations throughout the city. Whistler village, although a bit tacky and touristy, is a charming place with wonderful people. I wish the best for all the athletes who are competing and a special good luck to the Canadian Women's Curling Team, who I will be cheering on.
