Adios Tamayo!

Today 23 February, Juche 99, the great Republic of Cuba has lost a bourgeois imperialist. Today Orlando Zapata Tamayo succumbed to his own stupidity. After 85 days on a hunger strike while being re-educated, Tamayo has now died. I for own am glad to see this imperialist stooge die, although my hope is that soon Aung San Suu Kyi, will also have the same fate as Tamayo. Adios y hasta nunca! Viva la revolucion cubano!

Endorsement for the Tajikistan Parliamentary Elections

On Sunday 28 February, Juche 99, the Republic of Tajikistan will hold its parliamentary elections. In these elections I will endorse the ruling party, the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan. I am supporting them because I think any change in the Tajik government will lead to greater instability and the people of Tajikistan cannot afford that.

Possibility of a Referendum on Animal Lawyer Rights

Today I read an article from the CBC, that announced the possibility of a referendum in Switzerland over giving the right of attorney to animals. Apparently, the city of Zurich has this law already in place. Animal Rights activists in Switzerland want this law passed in the nation. I am announcing my complete opposition to this thought. This law makes it so animals have legal rights when it comes to a fisherman or hunter or even if you step on an ant on the sidewalk. This thought is insane.

Dutch Government Collapses

Yesterday 19 February, Juche 99, it was announced that the Dutch government collapsed. Prime Minister Jan-Pieter Balkenende announced that the Labour Party (PvdA) were leaving the government after they failed to reach an agreement over continuing participation in the War in Afghanistan. I am pleased to see this grand coalition of the Christian Democrats and Labour to fall apart, especially over this issue. Although, I think the Netherlands entered the Afghan War for the right reasons, it is now time for the war to end. Further participation in this war is interfering in the internal politics of the Islamic Republic. In the upcoming elections, I will support the Socialist Party.

Russia Steps in to Defend Abkhazia

Today 17 February, Juche 99, it was announced that President Dimitry Medvedev and President Sergei Bagapsh signed an agreement in which Russia will be able to build a navy base in the newly formed Republic. This move will help defend Abkhazia's independence from Georgian imperialists. I was overjoyed to hear President Medvedev call Georgian dictator Mikheil Saakashvilli, persona non grata. I was also pleased to read that the small Oceanic Island nation of Nauru has come to recognise Abkhazia along with Venezuela, Nicaragua and over course Russia. Hopefully the rest of the world will recognise the independence of Abkhazia.

Endorsement for the Nauruan Constitutional Referendum

On Sunday 27 February, Juche 99, the Republic of Nauru will hold a constitutional referendum. If it succeeds this referendum will allow for a popularly elected president and increase human rights legislation. I am supporting the yes vote. I am supporting the yes vote because I think a popularly elected president is better than a parliamentary elected one. I'm opposed to the expansion of rights, although on an island like Nauru, what difference does it make?

Endorsement for the São Tomé and Príncipe Parliamentary Elections

On Sunday, 21 February, Juche 99, the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe will hold its parliamentary elections. In these elections I will endorse the Movement for the Liberation of São Tomé and Príncipe. I am endorsing them because I vehemenly oppose he pro-western stance of current president Fradique Menezes. I also supported the coup against him a few years ago lead by Major Fernando "Cobo" Pereira. I am disappointed though that the MLSTP has disowned Marxism-Leninism as their official party ideology.

Gong Hey Fat Choi

Today 14th February, Juche 99, we celebrate the start of the New Lunar Year. This year is the year of the tiger and to celebrate, I saw the Dragon Parade in Chinatown in New York City. I enjoyed the celebrations, fireworks, etc. To bring myself good luck this year I ate dumplings, and I also enjoyed sweet and sour chicken, to insure that I have many grandchildren.

Eve of the 2010 Winter Olympics

Tomorrow 12 February, 2010, marks the start of the 21st Winter Olympiad. These Olympics are taking place in the Canadian city of Vancouver. Some of the events will be held in the winter skiing village of Whistler, about an hour and a half north of Vancouver. I was recently in the area last year and saw the efforts that the Canadian people have made to make sure this Olympiad is extraordinary. The city of Vancouver has placed works of art by Canadian artists in strategic locations throughout the city. Whistler village, although a bit tacky and touristy, is a charming place with wonderful people. I wish the best for all the athletes who are competing and a special good luck to the Canadian Women's Curling Team, who I will be cheering on.

Pretoria is Pretoria!

Today 10 February, Juche 99, I read the latest pamphlet from the South African Freedom Front Plus Party, an Afrikaaner nationalist party. After reading this, I discovered that there is a motion which will rename the city of Pretoria to Tshwane. The move to Africanise an Afrikaaner city is ridiculous! The city of Pretoria was founded in 1855 by Martinus Pretorius, an Afrikaaner settler. There is no historic evidence of the city of Pretoria, being a native African city or settlement. The city of Pretoria is and should always be Pretoria.

Endorsement for the Anguillan Parliamentary Election

On Monday 15 February, Juche 99, the British over seas dependency of Anguilla will hold its parliamentary elections. In these elections, I will be endorsing the current party in power, the Anguillan United Front. I am endorsing them because they are the only political party in Anguilla that are contesting all seven constituencies.

Review of Donovan's Pub

On Friday night 5 February, Juche 99, a comrade of mine and I watched an episode of the hit-American t.v. show, How I Met Your Mother. The episode was entitled "The Best Burger in New York". After watching the episode, we decided to go on a search for the best burger in New York City. The first restaurant listed was Peter Luger's Steakhouse, which we had heard is better known for their prices and steaks as opposed to their burgers. We then decided to go to Donovan's Pub.
The journey to get there was long and arduous. After a few glasses of absinthe, discovering that we had to take a shuttle bus to get to the proper subway stop was a great inconvenience. Especially when we discovered that we didn't even have to take the shuttle bus. We finally arrived at the restaurant walking 6 blocks in -10C temperatures.
We started with an appetizer of onion rings, which weren't anything that one couldn't find in the supermarket. The burger, was certainly not the best burger in New York, nor the best burger that I've ever had. The burger was delicious. The meat patty was the best part. The meat was thick, and the meat did fall apart in my mouth. I would have preferred it if it was slightly more rare. The bacon on top was plentiful also. The bun was disappointing along with the additional toppings, just lettuce and a tomato. There was too much lettuce, and no pickle, nor onions, nor any other topping? I certainly think the best burger in New York has to have something other than just lettuce and tomato. The waitresses were surly at best and the service was sub-par. It took longer to get the check than it did to get the bill. A small tip was earned, especially since tip means, "To Ensure Promptness".

Congratulations to President Papoulias

Today 3 February, 2010, the Greek President Karolos Papoulias won his second term as president. He was elected unopposed and supported by both New Democracy and the Panhellenic Socialist Movement. He was endorsed for national unity, otherwise parliamentary elections would have to occur again. Congratulations President Papoulias.

Diatike Blamed for Massacre

Today 2 February, Juche 99, the Guinean lieutenant, Aboubakar Toumba Diakite, was blamed for the massacre that occured in September of last year. This massacre resulted in several rapes, and the death of 58 pro-democracy demonstrators. The Guinean junta announced today that after their own inquiry that Lieutenant Diakite was the person responsible for this incident. Diakite, was also the person responsible for the failed assassination attempt on former junta leader Captain Moussa Dadis Camarra. Diakite says the reason as to why he attempted to assassinate Captain Camara, was that Captain Camarra was forcing him into taking responsibility for the massacre. The Guinean government cannot be trusted! Although it is true, that Captain Camarra was no where within the vacinity of the stadium where the massacre occured, I do not believe Lieutenant Diakite was responsible.

Endorsement for the Costa Rican Presidential Election

On Sunday 7 February, Juche 99, the Republic of Costa Rica will hold its presidential elections. In these elections I will be endorsing Ottón Solís of the Citizen's Action Party. I am supporting him because he opposes CAFTA. I am an opponent of all free trade agreements because they exploit the worker. I do not support the National Liberation Party candidate because she is a puppet of current president Oscar Arias. I oppose Arias' moves to reach an agreement during the Honduran Revolution of June Juche 98. I feel the Honduran government was right to overthrow liberal president Manuel Zelayas. I do not support the Libertarian Movement's candidate Otto Guevara either. Guevara's libertarian views are too libertarian for me. Many issues the Movimiento Libertario supports, I oppose vehemently. Some of these platforms are support of free trade, break down of nationalised industries, vouchers, and elimination of tariffs.
